Dealings with covid-19 vaccination

By Shodunke Opeyemi David

Should I call it rumour or noise spreading across the world that AstraZeneca is fake, people saying that the vaccine is the virus and all that, a whole lot of different stories, but then, what did I think about it personally?

Hmm, if you ask me, I would say that let me tell you my story about twenty-four hours before vaccination and forty-eight hours after vaccination. Perhaps, you might figure out an answer for yourself and get convinced either to take the vaccine or not.

NIGERIA GET DELIVERY OF ASTRAZENECA COVID VACCINE

On Tuesday, March two 2021, Nigeria received 3.92 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca. It is the first shipment for the over 16 million doses allocated to the country through the COVAX Facility, aimed at vaccinating 20% of the population.

Nigeria is expected to receive an additional 42 million doses of approved vaccines through the African Union’s African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team, but details on the timeline of shipments are not yet clear.

Dozens of Nigerian officials, wearing yellow high-visibility jackets and facemasks, met the flight delivering the vaccines on the airport tarmac in Abuja.

The government expected to receive 84 million doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine from COVAX this year, enough to inoculate 20% of the population.

The first doses were administered at a treatment centre of National Hospital Abuja the following Friday, and the nationwide vaccine rollout commenced on March 12.

LAGOS GETS DELIVERY OF VACCINE

In Lagos, after receiving over 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca jab, and despite concerns in some countries over the safety of the vaccine, Commissioner for Health in the State, Akin Abayomi said that authorities had spent a long time looking over the data and concluded that there was "no reason for the State to slow down its COVID-19 vaccination response.

Abayomi, who later received the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine in Lagos, said the vaccine’s benefits continue to outweigh its risks, and the communication from World Health Organisation and relevant government agencies gives us the confidence to proceed with vaccination to prevent a third wave of the pandemic.

Speaking at the venue of the Flag-off ceremony,  the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who also received the AstraZeneca vaccine urged Nigerians to disregard rumours and misinformation making the rounds about the vaccine as he puts it.

OGA AT THE TOP VACCINATED

In fact, my immediate boss, Mrs Adeola Akindele got a Jab of the vaccine. hmm, everyone at the office was excited as she shared the news at the office, but definitely, everyone was curious I guess especially me about the outcome, how she would feel later on.

Oh my goodness, the following day, guess what happened? she did not come to the office? Did she felt sick? what exactly happened? well, none of the above! Smiles.

You know what, she came to the office very hungry which is very usual, she ate like five times that day. You know, reacting to this, we asked "Ma'am, how are you feeling?" she said "this vaccine is just making me eat o" I am feeling very well, but I just feel like eating, probably the vaccination unleashed the hunger part of me, smiles.

Well, that did not continue for long though because it was Friday and the weekend is close, but by Monday, all was well.

THE BREAKING NEWS IN LAGOS (Over the weekend, the news broke)

Eighty-eight centres were approved across Lagos while eligible citizens who fit into Phase one of the vaccination exercise were urged to pre-register online for the vaccine at www.nphcdaict.com.ng or www.vaccination.gov.ng before proceeding to any of the vaccination sites for a quick and seamless process.

MY LIFE IN 24 HOURS

I fall within the category of Front line workers. I am a Journalist. So I had to decide if I should take the vaccine or not.

Personally, I do say that "Tough decisions are hard to make, but the best to make" is one of my favourite personal developed quotes. So, I stood by it and decided to go for vaccination on Monday, March twenty-two 2021.

Now, this is my story twenty-four hours before vaccination.

On Sunday, March twenty-one 2021, I resume work by 4 pm which will last till 9:15 pm, yeah! I completed my work that evening at work, but I stayed overnight at the office because I would also work the following day by 4 pm, so I have morning hours to myself.

After work on Sunday, I went online, got the address of the closest centre to the office, I found one, which is Oregun Health Care Centre. I was also on Twitter to ask questions basically on if I have to eat before vaccination or not. Good people of Nigeria responded by saying I should eat, it is always advisable to.

My mind never for once skipped the fact that I would be vaccinated the following morning. Well, I was not scared at all, not even close to that. I was very comfortable, but I couldn't sleep till the next morning, why did that happen exactly? I seriously don't know. but trust, I maximised that time, I continued the book I was reading which is "Great Leaders Ask Good Questions by John Maxwell" interesting book I must say.

I, also within that time frame(midnight) to create some content for my clients, yeah! I am also a social media manager.

MY SIDELINE JOB

Please, let me advertise myself.
"Are you tired or do not have time to handle your social media platforms or website? for your business or personal?

But truly, you do not find rest of mind leaving your business accounts or website inactive? hmm, I am your best bet.

Contact me on my number 08101951177. CheersπŸ˜€

MY LIFE IN 24 HOURS CONTINUES

Fine, around 6 am I was feeling sleepy, so I went to bed, but by 7:45 am, the cleaners were around to clean the premises, so I had to excuse them. Before then, around 3 am I had my bath.

In no time I was ready, set out to the restaurant to have my breakfast then to the vaccination centre. I had rice and plantain and a whole lot of water.

I walked down to the centre because it is not that far away from my office ( about 3.7 kilometres while driving( 9minutes drive and 28 minutes walk).

CURIOSITY AT THE HOSPITAL

On getting to Oregun Health Care Centre, what did I see?

A bit of Traffic gridlock, and a whole lot of people at the gate. I was like ''oh my goodness'', I came late already, this was around 9:23 am. Well, no shaking, "even if there are a lot of people here, it will get to my turn before 4 pm", I said in my mind.

I moved closer to the gate of Oregun Health Care Centre, then I asked the man who manned the gate, what is the procedure?

He said people from 70 years old and above were being attended to. Curiosity wanted to finish me again. I then said I am a Front line worker, I tendered my ID card, he then said oh, you are qualified for the first batch, please come inside.

Thank you, I said thereafter.

To be sincere, at first, I thought everyone at the gate came to receive the vaccine, but No.

Some came to look, while some came to disturb the peaceful vaccination process, and of course, some came to use power, meanwhile, they are not Frontline workers. Well, I saw some foreigners, mere looking at them, they are Indians also at the gate.

Most of them were not qualified, but they kept coming.

Kudos to the Police and some other officers who tried to control the crowd, most especially one crazy guy who kept shouting that "there's no Coronavirus, see me, I did not die all this while" This guy was ready to destroy the whole place, but thanks to God.

Yeah, I was given a number (50) because I met people on the seat, while some are already being vaccinated.

THE JOURNALISM SPIRIT INSIDE ME IGNITES

During the waiting period, I decided to do my Journalistic work πŸ‘ŠπŸ˜€. I asked for permission from the people in charge, and I was given the go-ahead, but not to go beyond a certain area... So I approached a few people who were walking out, knowing fully well that they have been vaccinated.

I asked them about their experiences.

Below are the responses.

Micheal (Over 70)

"Because I am over seventy, I was let in freely without any hindrance, i feel very well, and i think so far so good, the organisation has been reasonable and good. i think if they continue like this, we should certainly encourage them''.

Akinola Osinyemi (72 years)

''It is a simple process, the queueing processing is very simple, but you know Nigeria factor, everybody is so much in a  hurry, but they are highly organised, and once you get there, you get the jab, just like an ordinary injection, it does not harm''.

Roda Ojo

''The process was fine, but there were a lot of people, but at least they attended to us'' I don't even know that i collected anything, although i was scared when i wanted to collect the vaccine injection, it is over twenty-minute now i collected it. so i will advise people to come to collect the vaccine, God will heal us all''.

Teacher

''It is easier, and everything is ok. there is nothing to be scared about, it is very easy, and it is convenient. I don't see any side effects.

VACCINATION TIME

I was called and asked to fill a form with my name, date of birth, age, address, email address and phone number. Again, I was curious and decided to ask questions from the nurse.

I said I already pre-register online and here's the code I got.

She said, please fill the form, I don't need that one, I have to re-register you and put your details on the green card.
Ok, fine, I filled the form, submitted and it took about 5 to 10 minutes to complete the process.

I was vaccinated oooo, hallelujah! πŸ˜€

The nurse told me that if I feel any fever, I should take paracetamol and more liquid content, water. ok.

I jugged back to the office, met a few of my colleagues outside on getting back to the office, I told them I have received the vaccine. I took a picture with the card and showed them.

CHEERS TO THE SUCCESSFUL COLLECTION OF AstraZeneca

Hmm, the reaction from one of them, most especially Mr Puis, lol. that man, ehn. hin matter tire me. He was very local in his comment. Away from that, please. πŸ˜€

So I went into my office, the excitement was high as they saw the green card.
Cheers everywhere, I must say. That's how I turned to AstraZeneca vaccination recommender and explainer.
So basically, I had to explain to more and more people around my office environment about my experience and where I was vaccinated.

REACTIONS ONLINE

So I posted on my WhatsApp status.

"Vaccinated" with an emoji of injection and green Mark.

Oh my goodness, πŸ™†πŸΌ‍♀️ why did I post?

The message kept rolling in o. A lot of questions, condemnation and some commendation.

#ENDSARS: BLOOD, POWER, COURAGE AND SACRIFICE

#ENDSARS: BLOOD, POWER, COURAGE AND SACRIFICE

Image Sourced Online (lekki toll gate slaughter)

By Momodu Precious

If history could leave the abstract space and spread through our sky like rainbow do after rain, Nigeria would have been a hotspot for photographers all over the world to capture the awestricken colours that painted her sky during the last quarter of the year 2020.

It all started like a child's play when Naira Marley and Runtown first promised to hit the streets of Lagos to protest against the excess of the security outfit, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, popularly known as SARS. That was not the first time Nigerians would call for the end of this agency, but all previous agitations were made on social media. Though the citizens never brought themselves to the front door of the government's office to protest in their previous agitations, their online expression is audible enough for any reasonable government to put in place all necessary means to eradicate police brutality. But when the bane persists for years, the potential victims, mostly the youths, decided to take the notch a bit higher by organising a peaceful protest to gain the attention of their elected candidates in political power. But for days of raging protest, the president of Nigeria failed to address the country.

When the government would finally take action towards the demands of her citizens, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, announced the dismantle of SARS and the creation of a new subset christened SWAT.
This in no way pacify the agitators. In fact, it infuriated them the more. "Is the government implying that they have no right to demand an end to an unwanted policy?", "Is the presidency implying that it made them Nigerians to contradict their beliefs that they made the presidency what it is?" or "The government is insinuating that they are too insignificant to make demands in the country they contribute their existence to?"

These are some of the many questions that roamed the minds of these protesters and for this sake, they steered the wheels of their agitation towards the direction that will not only see an end towards police brutality but also put an end to the century old poor governance that dragged their country from its destined post as one of the most developed countries in the world to one of the poorest economy there is, despite it's enormous human and natural resources.
Image sourced online (Agitated youths)

Seeing from the angle of an expert, the ant of these youth truly carried a roasted plantain instead of the grain of rice that is about its size, especially when all the weapon they had was a peaceful protest that could only attract attention.
Though, the government denied their involvement in the hurdles that faced the protesters afterwards, all the questions of who and why in a criminal case points directly to the elected politicians as the number one suspect that could and would initiate such.

The first difficulty that the protesters faced was the hired thugs that attacked them with machete. But when the many finally decide to take charge of their life from the few, hired thugs is too small to scare them off. The next strategy that was put in place to silence the protesters was a bribe, but surprisingly, they refused that too and stood steadfast to their demands.
When mufti thugs and money could not silence the youths, the last resort to repel them is fear. On October 10, 2020, the Nigerian army drove to Lekki toll gate to "maintain law and order" where peaceful protesters were expressing their demands to the government.

At the protest ground, video evidence captured the military men shooting at the protesters. Also, live videos showed protesters ejecting bullets from the wounded victims. This was a live bullet that leaves blood behind its trail. But come the morning, Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, said truly there was a shooting but "nobody died". Then different contradicting reports came from the government authorities that should be held accountable for the occured incidents.

A wishy-washy judicial panel was quickly initiated to investigate the case. But for those who were alive to witness what happened to the outspoken artiste, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, in 1979 when 1000 "unknown" soldiers laid siege to his house and the murder case of the radical journalist, Dele Giwa, that remained an unsolved mystery till date, would know the end result of the supposed men of honor that constitutes this hastly made judicial panel.

One of the facts that corroborate this stance was the panels' recommendation to reopen Lekki toll gate before the end of their investigation. The ripple effect of this decision saw to the arrest and public humiliation of Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, on the 14th of February 2021.

Though the purpose of the protest was not reached, the memory of #ENDSARS will definitely leave a beautiful scar in the minds of average Nigerians.
While narrating the experience of the protest, one of the pop star that was on the front line, David Adeleke (Davido), expressed that, “It was crazy and emotional, but also a proud moment for me because I didn’t go there as Davido, I went there as a young Nigerian to march with my people on the streets of Abuja. It was all about letting our voices be heard and getting the Inspector General of Police’s attention, as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower chambers of the Nigerian parliament and other people in government.”

Without a doubt, the youths made certain that their voices were heard in their demand for a better nation. If no positive outcome is derived from the protest, it is in no way their failure. It is the negligence and incapability of the elected public servants to provide a safe haven for the country they promised to serve.

How To Rekindle Love In A Relationship

Relationship is  a bond, a connection, a link that exist between two individuals.

Relationships problems are common in thriving relationships. Acknowledging them can make it easy to deal with.  There are practically solutions to each and every one of the above problems and instead of leaving a relationship, applying these relationship solutions can actually rekindle it.
Love is supposed to be timeless, and it is usually a rude shock to find out that the once-powerful feelings of care and attraction are fading into disinterest and maybe even resentment. Luckily, the moment you realize that you are slipping, you still have a chance to save the relationship.

The following Tips are ways of Rekindling Love in A Relationship.

1. LEARN TO SAY THANK YOU:-
These two words might look simple but don’t underestimate them because, they can actually save your relationship.

When you have spent some time together with your partner, it is easy to get critical and you start noticing some faults. That is because you suddenly see things that weren’t there before, and this can cause resentment.

2. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF:-Ensure you remember the person you were when your lover first fell in love with you. In order to keep your partner you have to remember to make yourself beautiful because physical attraction also helps couples rekindle love.

3. PUT IN SOME WORK:- For love to rekindle, it needs the commitment, dedication and effort of both partners.
Also, In marriages when kids start coming, marriages get into some kind of autopilot where everything seems to take on a life of its own. Unfortunately, the moment you relinquish control is also the moment your passion gets quenched.

Put in some effort to rekindle love life with your husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend. Get back the passion, intimacy, and attraction you remember from the first days.

4. POWER OF WORDS:- Communication is key. It will single-handedly rekindle love in a relationship if done right. Ensure you always use the same channel to maintain the fire of love.

Talk about any issue you are experiencing and express your concerns lovingly but clearly.

In the same way, listen to your partner. Don’t just hear them but really listen. Put yourself in their shoes, and together you can find a solution.

5. THE POWER OF TOUCH:- At the first days of your relationship, every touch is like a drug that makes you intoxicated with passion and excitement . Try as much as possible to get physical touch with your partner.
When you go out, hold hands to get a physical touch. Get naughty whenever you can without going all the way to get the tensions up. Delaying the physical rewards makes intimacy sweeter. Even a stolen kiss is magic to rekindle love in a relationship.

Even broken marrieges can also be saved once you rekindle love into the flame it is supposed to be.

Don’t ever leave a true relationship for a few faults. Nobody is perfect and nobody is correct because in the end affection is always greater than perfection......

Note: Relationships are worth fighting for, you can’t be the only one fighting so know your self worth. A true relationship involves two imperfect people refusing to give up on each other πŸ’š❤️πŸ§‘πŸ’™

Your relationship, marriage, courtship, or friendship is worth saving, always. No matter the hurt and loss, you can always find a good enough reason to get back together. If that is what you really want, incorporate these tips, and they may just save you a trip to the marriage counselor or divorce court.

What do you think? Are relationships worth fighting for ?

Please let us know in the
comments section we will love to hear from you!

How To Get Over Breakup

Breakups are incredibly difficult. If you have just broken up with someone you care about, you may feel sad, angry, disappointed or betrayed . The good news is that these feelings won’t last forever so you don’t have to feel bad because they are not just worth it.
After the breakup, give yourself some time and space to process your grief. When you’re ready, use the wisdom and experience you gained from the relationship to move forward with your life. Take time to reconnect with things that brought you joy before the breakup, and look for new forms of fulfillment as well.

Let me share my personal experience with you at this point:

The most important and constant person in my life for five years cheated on me with my friend. I was so devastated because I lost not only my boyfriend but the person I trusted more than anyone in the entire world. I pray that the few things I learnt while dealing with my own heartache will be able to give hope, help your heart heal and help you let go of the hurt in due time.
Here are some things you can do to recover from breakup:

1. Give yourself time to grieve: Break-ups are the “worst possible thing that can ever happen.” I didn’t believe till I was heartbroken. It was being stabbed over and over again and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I wept profusely because I still couldn’t believe that the person who once told me things like “I love you my precious gift“, “don’t ever leave me” was now the same person that cheated and betrayed me. Nobody is stopping you from grieving because it’s better to do so than to repress, else, you might end up exploding one day and the implications will be worse.
PS: Surround yourself with people who understand what you are going through and pour your heart out all you want. Don’t rush things and let time pass. You will eventually get exhausted and run out of tears before you even realize it.

2. Avoid Contact With Your Ex: I know how hard letting go is but it is probably best to cut all kind of contact with him after the breakup. Avoid calling and texting him. It’s better not knowing what he has been doing. If you think that communicating will make things better, trust me, it never will.

3. Don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault. No relationship is perfect and there’s no use dwelling over the things you could have or should have done to save it. If you fought until the very end to keep it alive, then you should be proud of yourself. You held your part of the bargain and you didn’t let go even when you had all the freedom to. Love is not a feeling but a choice. Yes, it’s sad, especially when you think about all the promises and plans you made together, don't be too hard on yourself. Relationship is not a do or die affair.

4. Divert Your Attention: Don’t stay idle it will make you think of him. Try to live a function life despite the pain you are going.
5. Always Know You Deserve Better: If your breakup was due to the fact that he cheated or you were being taken for granted just  see it as a chance for you to be free from someone that doesn’t respect you or knows your real worth.

Moving through a breakup is messy and hard. I know, I have been there. If you’re walking through a breakup right now, and it hurts, I stand with you. You will get through this. Don’t forget that God has a gorgeous plan for your life. So, set boundaries, take care of yourself, and lean on Him. You are going to make it.

7 Signs He Truly Loves You

Being in love is about an emotional connection. The connection is either there or it isn’t. Love is so sweet especially when you are with the right person. It’s not just about the feelings you have for your partner but also about how they make you feel about yourself and as a couple.
When you feel truly loved by someone, you feel supported, special and happy. Being loved by that certain someone is like having a secret super power.

I know how nice it is to hear the words “I love you” from someone you love, but at the end of the day that’s all they are, just words. Actions are more of a true reflections of someone’s thoughts and feelings.

People can say anything, but real love requires effort and  not just words. Don't expect  your guy to  drop “clues” or give you “hints” that he loves you. He’s going to do 7 very obvious things. And when you know what to look for, these signs will become more obvious to spot. You will be able to know when a guy has feelings for you or even when he has feelings for someone else…
He may say that he loves you, but how can you tell? What if he never even actually said the words? Telling whether or not a guy loves you can be tricky, but you can do it. You only just have to look for different signs, such as how much time he spends with you or how much effort he puts into the relationship. Keep in mind that every guy is different, so not all of the tips in this article may apply to your man.

So without further introduction, here are 7 biggest signs a guy loves you:

1. He spends time with you:  guys tend to stay  around ladies they feel comfortable with... If your guy doesn't spend any time with you, or just never seem to be “around” you, then, there is a chances that he’s not interested. An interested guy will always  find an excuse to spend time with you.

2. He Is Affectionate: His body language and his nonsexual interactions with you will show you how much he cares.

3. He Cares About Your Happiness: A guy who truly loves you will always want your happiness even if he has to make sacrifice on his part. You being happy makes him happy too. Your happiness is a priority to him.
4. He Encourages You:
A guy who truly loves you will be your biggest fan. He will give you words of encouragement and will lift you up when you are feeling down.

5. He Is Protective: He will always be very protective of you. He will never want to see you hurt,  He will be very cautious so as not to be a source of pain to you. He will treat you with respect, and mind his actions and words.

6. He Sees You: A guy that truly loves you  see and accept the real you. If your guy has seen the worst of you and still looks deep and lovingly into your eyes with no judgement he truly loves you.

7. He Misses You Even When Apart: Knowing how much your guy misses you when you are far make you feel special. He may not say it, but the phone calls, and texts he sends when you two are apart is his way of telling you he misses you.

Some guys have been fucking around for so long that they’ve basically become professional players. And some guys just have a knack for faking the love long enough to get what they want or at least give it a good try.

But most guys aren’t willing to invest that much energy into something they don’t consider serious. If you know what signs to look for, you’ll be able to tell what game they’re playing.

I really wish we can rely on guys to be on their best behaviors, but we can’t. We’ve all been hurt often enough to know that. So, learn the difference between a guy who pretends to like you and a guy who like likes you. You’ll be amazed at how many bullets you dodge.

Are you able to recognize when a man truly loves you? Hearing the words is nice, but don’t get caught up in words. His actions are far more important and telling than any three words could ever be. So what are your thoughts on recognizing a man in love? Please share your thoughts and experience I will like to know more!!!!

7 Reasons Why People Easily Give Up On Their Goals

How long are you willing to pursue your dream?  The truth of the matter is that, majority of us give up on our goals because it is more challenging to achieve than we thought.

There are always two crucial choices to life, you either give up or pick yourself up, learn from your mistakes, and try again.
Many of us fail before we even start because we tend to set unachievable and unrealistic goals.  Giving up becomes the only option on the table due to lack of reason to go on.

In most cases, some just lack the confidence to try because, of the fear of what people around them will say if they fail. The thing we fail to accept is that, the people around us influences our success and failure.

Giving up on goals is so common that it’s important to examine the reasons why most people fail. Here, we will discuss 7 common reasons why people easily give up on their goals:

1. Lack Of Self-Confidence: Do you believe in your ability to bring an idea to fruition? If the answer is no then, you are similar to most people. Having faith in your abilities is the key to unlock the door of not giving up. Learning to trust your judgment will go a long way in building a strong mentality. People who lack self-confidence fail to set future goals or keep changing them.
If you are experiencing this, you can build your self-confidence in the following ways:

a) Stay around confident people because they will inspire confidence in you.
b) Reward any step you make towards self-confidence.

2. Preference To Stay in Your Comfort Zone: You can’t achieve your goals if you don’t leave your comfort zones. If your life is already ‘good enough” you will find it easier to give up and choose to leave your life as it is. Doing what you think is safe and comfortable might seem best at that moment because, you will feel you have gotten the results you are looking for in life but what you don’t know is that the results is missing in career opportunities, and overall growth of your life.
a) Study your fears and do something every day towards overcoming them
b)Make small steps and reward yourself for them
c) Make sure you pick the uncomfortable choice and stick to it.
d) Don't ever Give Up

3. Lack Of Perseverance: People who lack perseverance often think everything should be easy. It is mostly true for those who grow up with everything they need. Whatever someone else is doing to succeed might look easy from afar but, it’s not that easy. Do you know how many times innovators try to get things right? Instant success is always a story and only happens to those who use shortcuts. People who refuse to adjust to challenges end up settling with what they have. People who believe in quick results tend to give up when they do not come. Nowadays, people go for things that will bring fast results like:

a)Stealing tests to get better grades faster and easily
b) Taking drugs to help in studying and memory retention
c) Bribing tutors to get good grades instead of perfecting their academic writing

4. You do not Believe in Yourself
Your mindset determines your success, failure, perseverance, and giving up.  You not believing in yourself is the answer to why you give up so easily. If you do not believe in yourself then, you will keep putting yourself down.  You always thinkof the worst and blame others for your failure.
PS: The first thing that comes in your mind when you are on edge determines your strength.
In order for you to start believing in yourself, you need to:
a) Think about your past success
b) Learn to forgive yourself for your failures
c) Look for help
d) Practice always makes perfect
e)Set and achieve goals

“Believe in yourself that you can make a change”- Opeyemi Shodunke

5. You Listen People’s Advice: Listening to other people’s opinions, especially the negative ones will kill your dream. The fear of judgment can get in the way. It is advisable to give up on people who bring negative energy into your life.
The following are tips on how not to give:

a) Confide in the people you trust because they will give you positive feedback.
b) Identify and distance yourself from negative people when pursuing your dream
c) Focus on the solutions that are being provided rather than the problem

6. Lack Of Motivation to Work Hard: Commitment, motivation, consistency and discipline go hand in hand if you want to achieve your dreams. Self-discipline is what sets you apart from the dreamers. All people who seek to pursue particular things face challenges . Not accepting the obstacles and deciding to do something about it makes all the difference. If you are having a difficult time with self-discipline; then, there is something you are doing wrong. The pathway to self-discipline is easy with this habit:

a) Self-acceptance- accept that there are some things you cannot change about yourself
b) Develop willpower because discipline cannot stand without it
c) Self-control is vital to for self-discipline – you should take control of your life. Giving up short term satisfaction for long term gains which is the most difficult of them all.

7. Daily Distractions: We live in a dynamic world were you get instant access to information, entertainment and communication. We have gotten used to leading a fast paced life. It’s normal to get distract but you allowing the distraction take over can make you lose or forget your goal. Achieving your goal requires focus. A serious life dream might sometimes require years or even decades to be brought to reality.

Don’t Forget:
Giving up is the fastest root of failure. Nothing can stop you if you have self-confidence in your abilities. Leaving your comfort zone will require much strength but will enable you to explore greener pastures. When you lack perseverance, you seem to see every step as a challenge. On the road to success, there is nothing like a quick result, just hard work, and patience. Self-discipline means you do not wait for pressure to do better. Listening to harmful advice and opinion can discourage you and keep you in your comfort zone.
Take these seven reasons why goals are always given up on, work on them and you will soon find yourself achieve far more than you could ever have dreamed of. Good luck!!!!!!

How To Cope In A Long Distance Relationship

Distance is one of the inevitable challenge couples face in a relationship, which is capable of destroying their long built intimacy if not handled with great caution.
I met Chuks through his father.. I reside in Lagos and he doesn’t. We got connected and fell in love with each other.

The distance is really hard, but we have helped manage it by sending each other messages, converse throughout the day on phone and video chat steadily. It’s a constant team effort to keep us going to our first meet. Being that the coronavirus pandemic has disrupt our plans to meet.
However, I am hopeful that we will get to meet after this virus of a thing is over. I know that as long as we stay true to each other and keep loving each other, we can overcome things together.

The thought of being separated from each other creates a great void and vacuum in the heart. It becomes so difficult especially with someone you have had great memories with, being in each other’s company and shared things in common. It is just like your world evolves  around them because they seems to be present anywhere you are. As the saying goes, “out of sight is out of mind” but there is an exception to this statement if the right steps are taken.

Here are some factors that will help you cope in a distance Relationship.

1. Good Communication: Good communication helps to strengthen the bond and rekindle the spark that might have been lost as a result of distance. Technology has really made thing easier and less expensive. Communication must note necessarily be only calls, but chatting via social media which tend to be more convenient and less expensive . With consistent communication, distance relationship can stand the test of time because, by communicating with your partner, you are not just desiring to hear their voice but you are also reassuring them of your unending love towards them which can never be separated by distance.

2. COMMITMENT: For partners who has defined their relationship and are really committed to each other, out of sight can never be out of mind. Distance is however not a problem for them. But, partners who are not really into each other, that the purpose of them being in a relationship might be based on satisfying each other’s sexual needs and once that becomes impossible due to the distance, their relationship might eventually come to an end.

3. TRUST: This is a very important factor. Trust is not just earned but it is built, nurtured and allowed to grow with time before it becomes relevant. When you create a room for doubt while you are still with each other what makes you think there will be trust when you are apart? Always make your relationship transparent. Avoid anything that will create a room for suspicion in your partner’s mind. Lack of trust poses fear and brings about insecurity which tend to destroy the relationship with time. When the trust becomes mutual then, the distance in your relationship will never be a barrier.

4. Boundaries: Don’t do anything you wouldn’t want someone to do to you. Abstain from situations that might make your long distance partner feel uncomfortable. Adhere to whatever rules you know works for you both.

5. Make Plans: To keep your long distance relationship going, you both need to meet. Think and discuss things you will both like to do when you meet because, this will create something that both partners can look up to.

Long distance relationships are not easy, but the distance doesn't have to ruin your relationship either. Try these factors and you will see that long distance relationships can actually be more stable than close relationships.

CAN TRUST BE REGAINED AFTER BEING CHEATED ON

Relationship does not always bounce back after cheating. But it is possible for trust to be regained.
It only takes hard work and both partners willing to reconcile.
In a relationship, Getting cheated on is one of the worst feelings you can experience. It is really painful when you get cheated on from someone you share a bond with and trust completely with your life. It rings a bell right ? Yeah, I know how it feels.

Let me share my personal experience with you at this point...

I was in a relationship where the guy I trusted completely cheated on me not just once, but eight good times. I couldn't help it so I took records.

The most painful one was when he had an affair with my secondary school classmate.

This my classmate is a fashion designer who my boyfriend condemned on first sight because of her height.

Unknowingly, they exchanged contacts. So funny how guys tell lies to brainwash ladies just to get them into their bed..

I felt really bad when I later caught them. The pain I felt was worse than I do feel when a relative dies. Then I realized that he has taken me for granted because he knew I will forgive him again. But trust me this time I encouraged myself, gave him space and stayed away.

“In some cases, It is possible to rebuild trust to a point that it becomes stronger than before”.

“Believing that there is hope for the future of the relationship, is the first step to rebuilding the trust that was lost”

Most people cheat because they are not happy in one way or another and decides to leave you behind and move on to someone else. It could also be that some cheats by mistake, so they profess their love for you and tell you they still want you back.

Recently, I had a conversation with my friend Benson. I asked him why people cheat?

He replied: “Some do it for fun while others do it to taste something different”.

The question now is, can you ever rebuild the old trust between you?  Here is what I think..

1. It depends on your relationship: some relationship can go back to normal and others can't. When you have been together with someone for a very long time, the pain is thrice as hard when you are cheated on. But if your relationship is new, it is easier to try put the incident in the past and work towards a better future.

2. It depends on the Offender: If they prove to you that they made a bad mistake, make amends and promise not to make the mistake again no matter the situation, then trust can be rebuilt.

3. It depends on you: Are you willingly to trust them again? Do you think they deserve your trust? The truth is “if you have trust issues”, then you can never trust your partner again. But, if you feel you both have a future and you have listened to their reasons and it sounded  real, then you will definitely trust them again.

There is no definite answer at all. If your partner doesn't make amends just know that it's the end of the relationship.

OVER TO YOU:

Have you ever been cheated on?

Were you willing to trust them again?

I would really love to hear from you and learn from your experience.
Please leave a comment and share your experiences with me....

13 Relationship Truths That Should Never Be Forgotten

Sometimes in relationships there are no listed rules to live by. What works for Chuks might not work for you. In situations like this you have to discover what's best for you and your relationship.
A lot of people try to ignore some of these truths, but sometimes it does not turn out well. Some of these truths are unavoidable because ignoring them might be risky.

These are some of the relationship truths you should never forget.

1. There Is No Perfect Relationship:  Don't be deceived by what you see in movies. While growing up, I always imagined myself having a prince charming like Cinderella. I use to think relationships work perfectly everyday. Is this really possible? Stop having fantasies and face reality. Don't throw away the great relationship you have in your quest for a perfect relationship because it will ruin the great relationship you have.

2. Successful Relationship Requires Some Work: Successful relationship requires hard work and commitment. In life, you can't succeeded without
making any effort by working hard. Same reason why you can't have a successful relationship without working. Both partners are to take the risk of sharing what's going on in their minds for possible solutions.

The truth is “Open communication and honesty is the key”.

3. Do not Fight For A Spot In Someone's Life: You undervalue yourself when you beg someone to be in your life or to be in theirs. Never force someone to create space for you in their life because if you do, they won't value you.

“You are unique and special” and trust me on this, if they know your worth, they will create a spot for you.

4.Don't Bring Your Past Relationship To Your New One: A lot of us tend to forget this. If your past relationship was too good, am sure you will still be in it till now. Don't ever compare your new partner with your ex. People are unique and different in their own way.

5. Your Relationship Should Not Be A Competition: You are not running a race with anyone. Stop competing with your partner. Your relationship will never grow if it's treated as a competition. At the end of the day, it is the relationship that will suffer.

6. There Is A Purpose For Everyone To Meet: Some people will use you, some will test you, some will teach you.. The most important one is the one that will bring out the best in you. Try to learn and accept the differences between these people and carry on.

7. You Have Full Control Over Your Happiness: Create your happiness first before you can share it with someone else. Nobody in this world can make you happy. The longing for completion that you feel inside comes from being out of touch of who you are.

8.  Not Everyone Deserves A Second Chance: If your partner hurts you and keeps doing terrible things to break your heart, think twice before giving such partner another chance. To some, you giving them another chance is an opportunity for them to break your heart again.
PS: Second chance should only be given to people who deserve it.

9. Nothing Is Too Little To Appreciate: Cultivate the habit of always appreciating your partner no matter the little they do. Because they will want to do more when they have. Your kindness and gratitude matters.

10. Treat Your Partner How You Want To Be Treated: You can't treat your partner like trash and expect them to treat you like a princess. If you want to be respected then, respect them. Treat your partner just how you want to be treated.

11. You Get What You Put In: If you want to be loved, give love. If you want to friend, be friendly. This is a simple practice that works.

12. Your Life Will Be Better Off Without Certain People: Not everyone that comes into  your life deserves to stay. If someone keep mistreating you and pushes you in the wrong direction, respect yourself and walk away. It will surely hurt, but you will be fine.

13. Even The Best Relationship Doesn't Last: We don't live forever. Be grateful for what you have, appreciate who loves you, who cares for you and cherish you. You will never know how much they mean to you till they are no longer beside you. Remember, just because something doesn't last forever, doesn't mean it wasn't worth your while.

These relationship truths should never be forgotten.

How To Live A Good Life

Living a good life means different things to different people. Life is not just an adventure full of mystery that is yet to be uncovered. Life is a chance to dance with God. Living a good life depends on what matters to you.

Of recent, I changed my mindset because these days, I am more aware of "the moment" and I live it.

So decided to pursue my passion by creating a blog of my own which allows me to be creative and to work within my talents.
"A good life" deals with the simple pleasures that makes you happy, the personal goals you strive to achieve, the relationship you nurture and the legacy you will leave behind.

Many don’t know that time after all is the element of life that’s why a lot of people are caught up in the crazy rush of living a corporate lifestyle and will fail to appreciate their time.

There might be dozens of ways of living a good life, but I will focus on just TEN IMPORTANT WAYS OF LIVING A GOOD LIFE.

How To Live A Good Life

1. Be Self Sufficient: This is the greatest freedom. And your freedom is the greatest gift. Don't let people see you as a burden

2. Slow Down: There is a big difference between getting things done and getting things done effectively. Rushing diminishes accuracy.

3. Concentrate On Your Passions:  Your passion can be anything that challenges, intrigue and motivates you. True wealth comes naturally to those who are passionate about their endeavors.

4. Exercise Your 5 Sense: This is actually a technique for meditating.   Your touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing will give you a way of rewarding your personal experience.

5. Use What You Have: If you have ever achieved anything it will be through the abilities you possess. Success happens when you stretch the limits of the resources you have.

6. Be Sure Of Your Goals: Start small, be specific with what you want to achieve because you can never get anywhere if you don't know what you want. Acknowledge your weakness and take notes of any setbacks.

7. Learn Time Management: People who practice time management find out that they are more productive. When you try achieving your goals without planning your time, it will be like you sailing the open ocean without a map.

8. Think More And Talk Less: This is my weakness. I tend to talk more and think less. When we speak less, it enables us convey our thoughts in the best possible manner. The more you think, the less you talk, and the more you learn, the less you will miss.

9. Sleep Well: A tired mind is unhappy and inefficient. You need to sleep well to stay healthy

10. Eat Well: You ought to eat  healthy because like an adage say "you are what you eat".

Remember, start small and take the first step towards something new. Take time to define your values and goals of life. Work to fulfill the desires you want to achieve and stay true to yourself.

5 Reasons Why You Can Never Please Anyone

If there is anything I have learnt over the course of my life is that, living a life to please someone is nothing short of a death sentence.

Thankfully, I learnt this lesson early enough before it destroys me.

Back then when I still schooled in Auchi Polytechnic, I made cool friends but, there was this Favour of a girl that fascinated me, she had this clique that I badly wanted to join  because, I wanted Favour to be friends with me.

I did everything I could to please her and I lived my life the way she did hers. This gained me a small bit of approval from her and she allowed me join her clique. I knew I wasn't being true to myself but I continued pleasing her till she got me into a big mess.
Instead of living my life and be real, I became a clone with nothing original. It was like my life wasn't even mine anymore. When I got out of the mess Favour caused, I sat down to think about my life and I decided to change and be real to myself.

Living my life being real was so liberating. I grew to love myself and it made me better at loving other people too. I gained my self-worth and self confidence that I needed to be the real version of myself.

Pleasing people all the time is just not worth it because, you will not only begin to live your life according to someone else standards but also deny yourself all sense of happiness.

I know there might be thousands of reasons why it's impossible to please everyone but, I will share 5 reasons that are very important.

5 Reasons Why You Should Never Please Anyone

1. You Lose Your Integrity And Your Voice: Physically speaking, no two people are alike, twins might be identical but their personalities are different. We are unique in our own way. If you keep pleasing people you will compromise your integrity and overlook the voice of your inner artist.

2. You End Up With Less Confidence:
As humans, we hear alarm bells when we sense that someone is being fake. People will find you untrustworthy because you only tell them what they want to hear. Stand up for yourself so you don't feel less confident.

3. Loss Of identity:
If you are putting on a different show for people you get fascinated with, it is very easy for you to lose track of who you really are. Be true to who you are no matter who you are with. Don't hide the unique things about yourself that makes you the wonderful person that you are.

4. You Simply Can't Be Liked By Everybody:
No matter how hard you try and no matter how "nice" you are with people, they will still have an opinion about you. So don't even bother to please them.

5. Freedom To Be Who You Want To Be:
When you no longer care about what people think of you, you have no idea how much liberty gives you inner peace. Just give it a chance and you will get to understand what am talking about.

The world does not need insincere people-pleaser, the world needs the real you.
So step up and let the real you shine. The world's approval is waiting for you.

OVER TO YOU

What lessons have you learnt about trying to please people? Do you let the desire to please people influence what you do? If you have any experiences (positive or negative) of breaking free from the desire to please people then I would love to hear about them and learn from your experience as well. So please leave a comment and tell us how you did it!

Is Love Meaningful Without Liberty?

Love is absolutely meaningless without freedom. To love someone is to love them without thinking you own them. I once had the mentality that, jealousy and possessiveness were signs of love  but as time went on I realized that they were signs of ego.
I was in a relationship for five years where I was restricted. To be honest with you, it was really suffocating. It wasn't easy because he explicitly told me that I can't have male friends and also can't take myself out for a treat or attend my secondary school get together party.

I obeyed him because I thought the possessive behavior was normal in every relationship. But luckily, now i have a taste of what it's like to have liberty in a relationship.

You might confuse the idea of liberty in love with cheating... "Cheating is you betraying someone's trust after promising he or she that you will be faithful to them" but, that's not the case. I have come to understand that freedom is based on trust and the common vision you and your partner have.

I have come to realize that, i encouraged his behavior in the past because, he didn't trust me and that was why he always restricted me. I actually don't blame him at all because I was not brave enough to put a stop to his behavior.
I have learnt that jealousy, restrictions and possessiveness are the destroyers of love and they have no place in a healthy relationship. True love will set you free. I know nobody is perfect and there is no perfect relationship but, there are people that you connect with at a higher level of your soul rather than through your minds.

Why do you think you bond immediately with someone you just met, having the feeling that you have known each other for a long time? Whether you admit it or not, we all seek our soul mate because it is the important part of our soul and our soul yearns to be mirrored with another soul.

Our thinking alone attracts what we wish for ourselves in life. Don't ever stop believing in the existence of your soulmate and don't stop searching until you find them.

Erase the thought that "you will never meet the right person" trust me on this. Once you can erase this thought then, life will be good .

My Motto is "Change your thinking, Change your life.
